Leaves in Ukraine
Sick Leave
- An employee is entitled to get paid sick leaves in Ukraine. A medical certificate is required to take sick leave.
- The employer pays 100% salary for up to 5 days of sick leave. After 6th day, it is covered under the Social Security Fund.
- It may be 50% to 100% coverage under the Social Security Fund.
Maternity leaves
- A pregnant female employee is entitled to 126 days of maternity leave in Ukraine.
- The maternity leave of 70 days must be given before the child's birth. 56 days of leave is granted after childbirth.
- In case of complications or multiple births, maternity leave can b extended to 140 days.
- The expecting mother is entitled to get 100% of her salary during the maternity leave.
Paternity leaves
- Since 2021, the provision for paternity leave is also added in Ukraine.
- A male employee can take 14 days of paid paternity leave after the birth of his child.
- This leave must be taken within three months of childbirth.
- It is 100% paid leave under the Social Security Fund.
Adoption leaves
- Employees that are adopting a child are entitled to paid leave. An employee gets a parental leave of 56 days after the adoption.
- 70 days of parental leave is granted in case of multiple adoptions at one time.
- Adoption leave in Ukraine is granted to only one parent.
Annual Leaves
- An employee is entitled to a minimum of 24 paid annual leaves annually.
- Employees under the age of 18 get 30 days of paid annual leave in Ukraine.
- Employees are granted unpaid leaves of 15 days annually.
